Safety Rules

Safety is a top priority of Timbersports activity. There are several safety rules that participants are required to adhere by. The most important safety rule in Timbersports is knowing how to handle the equipment that you are using.

  • Detailed instructions on the specific equipment will be given prior to any activity.

  • If a participant is deemed unsafe during any timbersports activity the instructor will sound a whistle, which will require

    complete and immediate cessation of all activities by participants.

  • Non-participants are required to keep a 15 feet perimeter around activity.

Safety Gear

​

  • Leg protection: Leg protection helps prevent serious injuries if the saw were to accidentally make contact with the competitors leg. Thick long work pants or jeans are required.

  • Eye protection: Facial protection is important because wood fibers may fly out during sawing and chopping events. Protective glasses or wide lens glasses are required.

  • Foot protection: High leather shoes (such as leather hiking boots) are required. Hard-toed shoes are preferred.

  • Leg protection: Shin guards are required for log splitting activities.

  • Hand protection: Leather gloves are required.
